SEE HER SPOTLIGHT WITH JULIE MARTIN
Written by Emily Berry
When I asked people to describe Julie Martin, many people described her to be helpful, knowledgeable, patient, kind, and considerate. They’re not wrong. She’s been a part of Sharefax for nearly thirteen years and so many people, co-workers and members alike, will be very sad to see her retire on April 9th. When reflecting on her time she shared with me that one of her favorite memories when it came to working at Sharefax was sharing the teller line with Gina, Susan, and Lisa Davis. They had a little dog bone that they would pass around to the teller that made the most Duke payments that day. When asking around Holly Renier shared with me one of her favorite memories of Julie. One time she was asked to copy someone’s college degrees for them, they were handed to Julie still in their picture frames, and that’s exactly how Julie made copies of them, still in their frames.
“She’s a comfort to work with and I’m going to miss working with her.” -Marci McLeod
“The amount of members that love Julie is crazy, she’s going to be sorely missed.” -Heath Russell
In her free time, Julie enjoys things like going for walks, cooking, gardening, reading, seeing live theatre, and going to concerts in the park. She plans to continue to enjoy these things during her retirement along with throwing some traveling into the mix. She’s looking forward to going to Myrtle Beach this summer, planning a possible trip to road trip cross country to visit her daughter in Washington and possibly crossing off some bucket list items like traveling to Ireland or Switzerland. Oh, and did I mention that at the end of June she’ll be going to the Smoky Mountains to get married? Be sure to congratulate her! During her retirement she also is looking forward to spending more time with her grandchildren, visiting more with her siblings and friends, and even possibly volunteer at her local soup kitchen.
“I would love to see more sunrises and sunsets.” -Julie
Being a mother is something that Julie is incredibly proud of. She’s especially proud of her four children, who are amazing and incredibly caring. And after asking Holly and Tracey Bobb how they would describe Julie, it’s easy to see that who Julie is as a person easily reflects on how she raised her children to be.
“She is generous and selfless, always willing to give or share with others without expecting anything in return.” -Holly Renier
“I would describe Julie to be beautiful, intelligent, and fun. She’s a good listener and is always willing to help. It doesn’t matter if it’s work or personal, I know she’s always there if I need her.” -Tracey Bobb
As this is a spotlight of an incredible woman, I asked Julie who the most influential woman in her life is. She responded with her best friend, Barb. She explained that Barb has been through so much and always seems to keep pushing through. Barb gives Julie good, objective advice and always helps Julie think outside the box.
It’s easy to see the incredible impact that Julie made here at Sharefax, not only with our members but with the people she works with every day. April 9th is approaching quickly, and it will be very bitter sweet as Julie says goodbye to Sharefax and hello to the start of her next adventure.
